Srilakvahini : Broadcasting or not?

Many of you may remember that several weeks ago we had information about a Sri Lankan Satellite TV Channel that came into operation. We tried to get the parameters of Srilakvahini for anyone to view it but we are now getting unconfirmed reports that the they were asked to stop the commencement of transmission.

Please note that this information is not confirmed as yet and we would like anyone who has further details regarding this channel to post the information.

When you realy analyze the situation the Admin always run down about LBN. Its true that LBN is not funded by any organization in that event even in the crises they are not wasting money to enhance the image. From the day one they are handling professionally to over come the situation. We are also with them for last two years, there are negative & positive site in any organization. One point that I want to make here is when the other net work got sealed, they went to the court & argued about other operators also doesn’t have the license to operate. But according to my knowledge LBN never brought that issue.

1. Multivision still operates. Are they having TRC licenses?
2. Multivision sub agents still operating after sealed by CID. Have relevant authorities filed case against them?
3. CBN sat claims they will resume operation on 15th. But up to now they dint get a date for the test transmission
4. If these operations are crime how Satnet chairman represent Ministry of Defense?
5.it dosent mean tha you have 80% of the employees were sinhalees thats you are not involed in enything.
6.Fort police OIC shot him self, can you claim that entire police is supporting LTTE ?

1. Multivision still operates. Are they having TRC licenses?
I think they do. They braodcast on air waves which are issued by the TRC. Their broadcasting method is similar to local terrestrial channels.

2. Multivision sub agents still operating after sealed by CID. Have relevant authorities filed case against them?
Dont think so. The fact that multivision is 50% owned by the govt plays a big part here in my opinion

3. CBN sat claims they will resume operation on 15th. But up to now they dint get a date for the test transmission
Their seals are not removed yet.(if what i heard is true) Can they issue a date with authorities that are defying orders from the cheif justice himself?

4. If these operations are crime how Satnet chairman represent Ministry of Defense?
Says a lot about sri lanka and how thing are done down here, doesnt it?
5.it dosent mean tha you have 80% of the employees were sinhalees thats you are not involed in enything.
It also doesnt mean that by having a tamil chairman, they support terrorism. And about the same satellite issue, i think you are well aware of the fact that it's owned by PanAmSat and not by CBNsat.
6.Fort police OIC shot him self, can you claim that entire police is supporting LTTE ? whats your point?

Well said LST and just to clarify on item number - 3.

*As per the court order CBNsat does not need a specific date to do the testing and they can do whenever they require and the seals have been already removed.
The request for presence of SLRC,TRC officials by the CID when testing was rejected by the magistrate.

I have realiable information that Srilakvahini has been asked to halt their transmission untill the proper licence are issued(Though they claimed they have at the press briefing)

I think it will come to operation with the issuence of licence to CBN,LBN etc.

Even if srilakvahini is broadcasting, i dont think they are going to have any significant customer base. I remember them saying "we are targeting 25000 customers who are unable to use their satellite euipment currently".

Maybe the supreme court ruling lost 25k of their "potential customers" as it showed clear signs of CBNsat returning.
