The channel testing on FM 89.8 has been identified as Kiss. We are not sure when this will be launched but we will update you with information as and when we receive them.

ReplyDeleteWhen Some org or Company applying for the Fm freq from the TRC, they must provide full details about the powerfullness of the transmitters which they use to broadcast. each transmitter has seperate annual charging fees. it depend on the power of it. Then Gov (Trc)can charge the fees. As we know every Radio and Tv operater should renew their licens in every year.
ReplyDeleteI think that 'Seth fm' is a religious Channel and broadcasting programmes for christian peopols who living around Negombo Area. Every one know that most of Sri Lankan Catholic people living in Negombo.
So my point is Seth fm useing low band freq only for negombo area. they can broadcast catholic programmes and some advertisments from the area businesmens.
But this Kaluthara and Colombo freq is a seperate issue.
VIS don't want to launch a fm channel only for kaluthara area. defi they have to use powerfull transmitter to cover Kaluthara and Colombo.
We know VIS planned to launch 3 seperate Radio and Tv Channels. As VOA trying to do, Maharaja did.
I think this unnessesary mixedup has done by the Trc. They trying to give freq for all the applications which provide by the private org and companies, and collect huge money for the Trc and state tresuary.

THEY ONLY HAVE 97,3 AS SPARE FROM KALUTARA AND THEY ARE ILLEGALLY USING IT FROM COLOMBO.
I called TRC and they said they havent issued any frequency for a radio channel called radio 2 and as per TRC 97.3 from kalutara also allocated as Radio 1.
Also TRC was unaware about the 97.3 transmission. They said they must have informed if they have even commenced transmission from Kalutara and still not such.
dr : yes both 107.9 and 89.8 are former ABC frequencies. When they have been siezed transmission, all of their frequencies are been automatically cancelled.

The National Education Institute launched this education channel to help school children in their studies. This channel will be aired by using satellite technology in 100 selected schools. It means like this Vasntham Tv ends at 12 midnight but ITN ends 12.30 in midnight.At 12-12.30 You Can see ITN from Same frequency.But If you see VHF 9 You Canot Watch ITN at that time. And a nother thing is That After ITN was Closed on 12.30 in the midnight but you can see ITN Logo on UHF 24.This is only at that frequency .

I heard on today morning SLBC news that they are opening a new high powered transmitting station in Colombo tommorow covering the whole western province at a 2KW power transmitters for each frequencies.
I think ABC is not going to start Sha & Sun FM because now they started special nonstop music show called 'Sha' on Hiru after 9pm and they are using Sun FM T.P number for Gold FM. May be they will start three TV stations like VOA and MTV
ReplyDeleteI think that ABC wants to restart Sha & Sun but they are not getting frequencies. In the mean time, they are getting a good challenge from Rhythm FM and therefore they have decided to start "Sha rhythm" on Hiru FM untill they get the required frequencies.

ReplyDeleteJust shifting the topic to a testing TV broadcast on Saturday, 1st August. I watched a TV testing programmes exactly on TV 2 UHF line from around 5 pm till may be 11 pm. That was a high powered transmission ( I am in Rathmalana area) which telecasted Vasantham TV programme without its chanal logo on the top. I hope this may be a test broadcast from ITN? Then my problem is what happened to TV 2? Does anybody have any idea.

ReplyDeleteKISS FM is operated by a media organization based in the UK. And that organization is a subsidiary of 'Voice Of Asia' Networks.
So technically, KISS FM is owned by VOA, the parent company.
Most of the DJ's who used to work for SUN FM have already joined with KISS. 'The Saint' is the Music Controller. After the launch of KISS FM, REAL RADIO will become an oldies station.

ReplyDeleteI don't agree with your facts! Coz they are all false.
I obtained "RADIO 2" frequencies a while back from the 'People's Media' Network itself.
They have been allocated 97.3FM for both Colombo & Kalutara. They're not using it illegally. Don't underestimate them. This is the same company which operated ETV & ETV2 24 hours a day with an islandwide coverage back in the 90's. There's no way that someone could use a radio frequency in Colombo without TRC knowing about that.
TRC allocates frequencies under the Media Organization's name (People's Media / TNL Radio Network / Voice Of Asia & etc.), NOT under the Radio station name.
As an example, VOA transmits 'REAL RADIO' islandwide on 93FM. but they can later shift it to one of their other allocated frequencies such as 106.7 or 98.6 as long as the said frequencies are allocated for a partcular location (ex: Nuwara-Eliya). So 'People's Media Network' is capable of using previously allocated frequencies for their new/future stations as well without a special approval from the TRC, specially when it comes to a Test Transmission. You only need the separate license from the TRC when the official transmission commences. That's when TRC adds 97.3FM under 'RADIO 2' listing.
My personal opinion is that "RADIO 2" is better. We badly need a station that focuses on the material (Dance/Club music & etc.) aired by SUN FM.
TRC has already mentioned RADIO 2 - 97.3FM as Operational in their Frequency assignment list....
Duffy, please ready TRC frq list carefully. Peoples media have informed TRC as they are tranmitting 97.3 from Magalkanda. Which is ok as 97.3 is allocated for Magalkanda. But they are transmitting it from Colombo. Which is illegal. TRC cannot allocate the same frequency for Magalkanda and Colombo.

Any company can use their frequencies as their will but if you want start a seperate radio station they want to get the broadcasting license from the media ministry
for example radio one was allocated with some frequencies with 97.3Mhz but if they want to use 97.3 for radio2 they want to acquire a seperate broadcasting licence for new radio.

Sam, You said about that BOI project. I think It is the project where ABC Network got 60% share. According to the ABC Networks Advertisement recently i saw that they mentioned about this BOI project. So we can get great TV channels from ABC.
