With effect from today MAX Television & Radio have relaunched with a new identity. Posters can be seen all over colombo and the suburbs indicating this relaunch. The channels now carry a brand new logo however the websites have not been updated at the time of posting this blog entry. We are informed by unconfirmed sources that Max Television which was a full Sinhala language television station will start relaunch with English and Tamil programming however we are yet to confirm this.
Max Television is available on a FTA basis as well as on all Sri Lankan pay television providers. Max Radio is available FTA.

is siyatha tv will start 3rd sep? they run there test transmission 3 yrs. but still testing, when considering tv derana , after 3yrs they become first class and cover most areas. they give crystal clear pictures to colombo & gampaha area. bt siyatha testing there tv channel 3 yrs, we couldn't c there test transmission also

I receive Max TV near Kuliyapitiya but only after raising my antenna very high. The picture is not very clear and grainy but it is watchable. I still cannot receive TV2 & ETV.

i saw in previous comments, siyatha tv will start with islandwide coverage, but it is only cover colombo, but siyatha tv carrying 3yr test transmission & they got VHF 06,08 from Nuwara Eliya, mainly tv channel who has islandwide coverage cover islandwide frequency in Nuwaraeliya but unfortunately 3yr test transmission doesnt cover this frequency. they r going 2 start Vettri tv & real tv soon, i think before start a new channels they should try to expand siyatha tv coverage area. guys dont u have any new information's about Prime tv?

VOA going to start 3 TV staion as Siyatha, Vettri & Real. They got 3 UHF frequencies for Colombo to run their channels and now they are testing Vettri Tv and Siyatha Tv. But Siyatha Tv is hoping start their programs on next month.
ReplyDeleteIt's not believable but true, ABC is thinking to start TV channels in 3 languages very soon as well. According to an important person working in ABC he said about their TV channels. Eventhough they got only one UHF frequency for Colombo they are hoping to get more to start 3 TV channels. And they still not given up the hope to restart Sun & Sha FM as well.

Sam, as ABC networks is a venture of Sun Rise radio UK, VOA also joined with Uk Based Bauer Media. Through this combination they've started Kiss Fm and going to start TV channels as well.

It is not unbelievable becuase they have all the contacts in government to get necessary frequencies and approval for all the communication facilities. For example eventhough ABC has representative in the government, they can not get frequencies for their SHA & SUN. But VOA is starting new channels in every month. It shows their ability in the government. If they continue this drive, one day they will become the biggest media group in the country.

ReplyDeleteI think ABC knows this situation. that is why they started "Sha on Hiru" programe on Hiru FM. Becuase they know that they will not get frequencies soon.
TRC has given frequencies with out having a proper policy. As a result, it is extremely difficult to find a new frequency for Colombo area. if they can re-adjust all the frequencies, they can find space to issue few more frequencies for Colombo area. This frequency jam has created a unhealthy environment for ABC. That is why they were not given frequencies for their 5 channels. Because others wanted to grab these frequencies by getting the advantage. Even VOA did the same thing. During the last few months, all the available frequencies were allocated and now there is any single frequency available especially for Colombo area.

ReplyDeleteTRC frequency allocation is a utter failure. I dont know what fool did it cause I frequently drive out of Colombo and notice this.
They have given 100.4 for e fm in Colombo and for some other channel in Kandy. So as you go out of Colombo you tend to hear both channels on alternatively. (cause fm signals pick up the most powerful signal at the receiving end) And they have given e fm another frequency for Kandy.
Similarly they have allocated some Colombo frequencies to transmissions from the south. So when you go towards Galle in the middle channels mix up.
It's an utter mess. They only concentrate on selling the frequencies. Not regulating them in a proper way.
Ofcourse, if they can regulate these frequencies, One FM channel can cover the whole island with three frequencies and listners are not having the problems in listening their favourite channels and no need to change the frequencies from time to time.

Now TRC completely in a favour of VOA networks as the directer or TRC is the brother of VOA owner. So a family dominates TRC right now. That's why eventhough ABC badly wants to start Sha & Sun back and TV channels but they couldn't get relevant frequencies from TRC.
