3zzz,
even after getting frequencies, it seems that there is not any hurry from ABC side to resume the services of Sha or Sun. Is there any problem?

Guys,

Do you guys have any clue about AXN free to air channel? Do you guys know who doing it?

3zzz said...

Sam :>
Bus TV operated by a company called ASIAN VISION. They have installed a setup box which has a hard disk in it on selected inter-city buses. Programs are loaded for a week.

MAL Media Network run by a web solution company. They have hired the frequency of 97.2 (only Ratnapura city limits) which belongs to TELSHAN (Mr.Shan) Its not a professional channel.

Chander:>
ABC havent got any Channel-9 frequencies but they try to get the broadcasting rights of Channel-9 network in Sri Lanka.

Kumar:>
Dialog has stopped DVB-T project at the moment. Since Rupavahini has started DVB-T2 (newest technology) in Kokavil, now Dialog also trying to shift to DVB-T2

Sumathi TV means 'Sporting Times' (Horse Race) you have to have a setup box to recieve it

Nalin Kiing:>
which frequency are you getting AXN free-to-air? is it CH 38? Then it must be ABC! coz heard that they r time to time testing their TV transmitter

Nalin Kiing said...

3zzz,

AXN Free-to-air channel isn't a UHF channel, its VHF channel located in somewhere between Rupavahini (VHF 05) & ITN (VHF 12). You can watch it after 8pm.

Thx 3zzz
Why Rupavahini started testing in Kokavil? When will Dialog resume DVB-T

3zzz said...

Nalin Kiing:>
Currenly operating VHF channels are;
VHF 03 TNL
VHF 05 Rupavahini
VHF 07 Rupavahini (Pidurutalagala)
VHF 09 Vasantham
VHF 11 Channel Eye/ Nethra
VHF 12 ITN

has to rechecked again who is using which channel to telecast AXN. Will see

Kumar:>
from Kokavil you can cover entire Northern part of the country. That means from Vavniya to Point Padro, Thaleimanner to Trincomalee

even today Jaffna ppl use to have setup boxes to watch TV. since there were no local tv towers there during the war time Indian setup box were very popular there.

even after SLRC, MBC, ITN put up their tower ppl rarely watch local channel. they are addicted to indian channels with setup boxes.

so its easy for SLRC to go for DVB-T in that region when it comes to selling aspect.

from the engineering point of view. if you can put up a very tall tower in Kokavil u can even cover south india from it. so its easy and more economical way to start DVB-T from that region.

3zzz,

I think there is one thing want to be corrected,

As far as I know Channel Eye/Nethra's Colombo channel number is VHF 7. So there aren't any channel in between Vasantham TV & ITN in Colombo area.

Rasika said...

yes, it is right there is nothing on VHF 8, 10 & 11 in Colombo area. sometimes ago, it was mentioned in TRC VHF allocation list that there were few VHF frequencies were allocated to VOA (Voice of asia) but now it is not mentioned in the list.

Nalin Kiing said...

Rasika,

May be you got misunderstand what I said. What I tried to say before is, officially (for my knowledge)there's nothing on VHF 10 & 11, BUT now there's a channel in that range in Colombo area (I have no idea about outstation areas)named AXN. So Rasika, if you can find any info about who's operating this channel, please share that information with us.
