Historic day for Sri Lankan Radio - 5LIVE on Yes FM

Tomorrow Yes FM Sri Lanka is going where no station has gone before, yes outdoor events are fairly common for radio stations specially during the festive season where each station is parked at some mall someplace in the city.

Having multiple broadcasts from different locations in the island within a span of 24hours from cities located in various parts of the island is indeed a first for any station in Sri Lanka.

The following is the schedule for the day tomorrow

6 am to 10 am from Rio Ice Cream Parlor in Jaffna
10 am to 1 pm from Kandy City Center
1 pm to 4 pm from Heritage Cafe in Galle
4 pm to 7 pm from Jetwing Beach in Negombo
7 pm to 9 pm the Radio Zoo in Colombo

We hope this set's the stage for many more "live" radio broadcasts from around the island, instead of being stuck to the studio until December. It is indeed worthy to note that it was Yes FM that began this concept of outdoor broadcasting when they stepped into Crescat during the festive season several years ago.

Siyatha TV gone.....

Over the last weekend Siyatha TV wrapped up transmissions and put the channel on test mode once again. It is rumored that Neth FM will start their a sister TV station or Real Radio will launch Real TV. But it's interesting to note that Siyatha is still carrying out their activities such as news broadcasting over the channel.

Either a rebranded version of Siyatha TV will come on air but its absurd to send a channel into test mode prior to the rebranding exercise, or the channel has been leased to a third party for the launch of a brand new station.
