On a Presidential directive all imports of telecommunications apparatus will be subjected to prior approval from the Defense Ministry as a security measure, the TRC said yesterday.
"TRC of Sri Lanka has been directed to seek clearance from the Ministry of Defence before the issuance of any licenses and for the importation of telecommunications apparatus which may have an impact on national security. This move has been initiated due to te current development in the security situation in the country," the TRC said in a statement.
