Channel One MTV, Shakthi TV go 18 hours

Channel One MTV and Shakthi TV will commence broadcasts on an 18 hour basis from tomorrow Feb 7th. Today is the last day some people will be able to watch Channel One MTV due to the limited coverage of its new frequencies. Nevertheless the quality of reception on Channel One has improved drastically over the last few weeks and we hope that they will increase coverage for those who are unable to view the channel.

Shakthi TV will be introducing a whole new set of programmes and becomes the first locally operated free to air channel dedicated for tamil language programming to operate on a 18 hour basis.

In addition Channel One MTV will be introducing a new set of programmes commencing tomorrow such as Ellen, The Tyra Banks Show, David Letterman Show, Sunset Beach, etc in its new lineup which commences at 6:00AM tomorrow morning.

It is sad to note that there is no reality show that has been listed on their upcoming programmes list and we hope that reality shows such as Amazing Race will be added to the lineup in the near future.

We also encourage Channel One MTV, Shakthi Tv, Sirasa Tv and all MBC radio channels to seriously look into converting their transmission modes to digital. In addition we hope that all MTV-MBC channels are made available on CBNsat so that they can be viewed by people who are beyond the reach of their regular broadcast.

what they should have done is that to give the existing channels to mtv and put shakthi tv into new frequencies. there is a huge demand for english language programming in sri lanka. MTV coverage is hopeless at the moment.

Is there really any point in going digital? Won't the general public need to have a digital decoder to really see a difference not to mention a new HDTV? I don't think Sri Lanka is HD Ready at the moment.

It's really sad to say that we are going to miss some interesting programs like 24.

Well,I live in Galle (Southern Province). I have been watching this channel for about 4 years. And the most important thing, MTV was the only English channel available in Southern province.
And there's a lot of English programme viewers here in my area...
Now it seems like it has gone forever.
Outstation people always have to suffer....

I have got a CBNSat connection. but I don't think they will add local english channels to their line-up....

If somebody has contact details of MTV head, pls be kind enough to post them..

Admin, I hope you will be able to help me.

dont worry as only people who can watch this channel are very few within 20km radius as people in suburbs are not getting the channel MTV but skathi is a bit better with 30km radius.

if you talk about colombo area people in negombo, gampaha, panadura dont get any pictures with good antenna and booster.

ART and ETV has much better reception in the above mentioned areas

let them realise at their own will when advertisers pull out.

hey, 1st when i watched FOX NEWS on MTV i was just OK, but as i was watching, its obvious that FOX NEWS is not fair and balanced. they support republican side.Americans hate fox news, go to u tube and see all the lies and how unbalanced and unfair they are. and while everybody is scolding , why dose MTV embrace them??? i knew nothing about American politics but still when watching FOX news it was clear that they are just indecent people. they say for us to decide what they report, but if you would have watched Sean and O'riely you will see it clear how much they hate democratic and is pulling for republicans.
