Lak FM launched today

Sri Lanka's latest Sinhala Language Radio Station "Lak FM" launched today on FM 92 for colombo. This station commenced test transmissions almost 3 months ago. The launch was delayed untill they could achieve islandwide coverage status. Now since the station has obtained the desired coverage the station has now launched.

A few more radio channels are still in the pipeline and we could see them launch over the next few months.

There is a huge problem when listening into Hiru FM channel through 96.7Mhz from Colombo. Because there is a another channel disturbing Hiru and it is very difficult to listen while driving as the vehicle is moving. Especially when you are driving towards north or east from colombo, You have to face the problem. Also in Jaela, Gampaha and areas in the east & North of Colombo, it is very difficult to listen to Hiru FM even on our normal radios.

There's a private cable company (not LBN) operating from Negombo covering most of the areas in Negombo, Colombo road upto Seeduwa and housing schemes in Ja-ela and Raddoluwa. They provide analog cable connections (no set-top boxes) with only single package inclusive of 50 odd chanels. They say they do their operations under 'Ruhunu Multivision 2000' license.. Their installation is Rs.3000 + monthly rental is Rs.620 and secondary connections cost only Rs.1500 + monthly rental is Rs.150.. I even got a leaflet from one of their promotion guys. It sounds too good to be true...
