Sri Lanka's latest TV Station Derana TV has commenced transmissions from 11th October 2005 on UHF 37 about a week after commencing test transmissions. Initially the coverage will be only for the Western Province but they will be expanded later. At present transmissions will be only for about five hours per day and it will be extended later. This is a Sinhalese language TV Station. The unfortunate point is that as the world moves into Digital Transmission, Sri Lanka keeps on launching TV Station's on the Jurassic Analogue format. This is the total fault of the politicians in this country who are not taking any steps to phase out Analogue transmission and introduce Digital Transmissions to the masses.
However the management of Derana can take some positive steps by getting CBNSat to carry the Derana TV transmissions. Over to the management of Derana and Good Luck to the management of Derana TV.
