ICC Cricket World Cup on Dialog TV

Dialog TV Sri Lanka's trend setting pay television broadcaster has secured exclusive rights via SET Max to broadcast the World Cup for pay television subscribers in Sri Lanka. SET Max holds the exclusive rights for the World Cup in this region.

So therefore Dialog TV subscribers will be able to watch the world cup on DVD Quality Picture and in full stereo.

According to this information it means that none of the other pay television companies in Sri Lanka will be able to carry the SET Max channel which will be broadcasting the World Cup.

The FTA broadcast of the World Cup matches in Sri Lanka will be handled by Rupavahini and Channel Eye.

There is a strong rumour that the World Cup will also be shown on ESPN

since setmax cannot cover all the matches in certain days 3-4 matches are played at a particular day setmax will be sharing the feed with ESPN.Also doordharshan has put a case against setmax asking to share the feed if they succeed(in the past they have) LBN and comet might telecast as well(comet showed india sri lanka matches from DD not neo sports this time)

At the moment we are not receiving any reports about sharing content with ESPN. If SET Max shares content it will most likely be with Ten Sports since SET and Ten Sports are part of the SET-Discovery alliance.

SET Max will however share content with DD Sports only for matches involving India (it depends on the ruling in the court case) and for the final most likely but this does not apply for other matches.

when we checked the news sites DD is asking for full tournament telecast on their terristial and DD sport channels.most likely since india is a cricket crazy country the judgement will be to sharethe feed.As in the past they always win these cases.I think and im sure with their proper administrative structure the government of india will finally get involved into this and will favour DD.Im an Indian and I know how the system works there.

Doordarshan to telecast cricket World Cup live

The Delhi High Court has been informed that private sports channel SetMax, in collaboration with Nimbus Communications, has signed an agreement with public broadcaster Prasar Bharti to provide live feed of the cricket World Cup matches.

Appearing before a bench of Justices Vikramajit Sen and J.P. Singh, Additional Solicitor General P.P. Malhotra said an agreement had been signed between Prasar Bharti and SetMax to provide live feed of all the World Cup matches to be played in the West Indies from March 14.

Nimbus Communications, the owner of the NEO Sports channel, will provide the live feed to SetMax, counsel for Prasar Bharti Rajiv Sharma said.

The cases pending before the high court will not come in the way of broadcasting the matches live in non-cable homes in India, he added.

Even though the Sports Broadcasting Ordinance did not specify the sharing of mandatory live feeds of the sports events held abroad, the agreement with SetMax will enable Doordarshan show the matches live.

Nimbus which had bought the rights to telecast matches held in India for four years for Rs 27 billion, had filed a petition in court challenging the Sports Broadcasting (Mandatory Sharing with Prasar Bharti) Ordinance, contending that it is 'bad in law'.

'The ordinance transgresses the constitutional limits and apart from violating the petitioner's fundamental rights, it also interferes with the power of the court to review the circular enforcing the private channels to share the feed,' Nimbus maintained.

The high court has issued notice to the government and Prasar Bharti asking them to file replies to the Nimbus petition.

In its reply, the government said that before granting the licence to telecast matches in India, it had been made clear to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that whoever was given the right to telecast the matches would have to share the live feed with Doordarshan and All India Radio.

WOW!!!!! so DTV signing agreements and shouting been the exclusive rights holder is bullshit now.

Comet cable and LBN too can show the FULL WORLDCUP COVERAGE.So the money spent by DTV is a waste.Anyway since im a DTV subscriber i think I will hv to buy an umbrella to cover the dish if its rainng.Poor show

I promise you, Doordarshan is as bad as Channel Eye. Knowing that Indians are cricket mad, they will put tons of ads on the channel. And the Indians will still watch since they have no alternaitive.

But SET Max is looking at an audience outside India. They will have extra programming which promises to interesting. They would not mess uptheir coverage with too many ads.

DD is the national channel of India, like Rupavahini is of Sri Lanka. And they will do anything for some extra money apart from funding. Don't expect them to do such a good job of it.

DD has won a court case and will be telecasting world cup matches free to air. We can watch not only the 1st and 6th ball in an over but also commentaries during the break. Just get a Ku dish and LNB for Rs 1750+750 and and a receiver and aim it to Insat and its free.
If you remove the Dialog TV cable and connect it to the receiver and download the other channels in the same satellite you can also watch the controversial Ealam TV Channel called NTT.
