We have people who talk about Sri Lanka so much but only do things that make this country look bad. Here we have a Tamil person gifting something that not only benefits Buddhist but all those interested in religion. What a loss to the nation he was when connected people forced him to sell to Dialog!

The openning ceromony of the Buddist channel was a disgrace. Women dancing in front of the budda statue. The first time I have seen somthing like it.

DTH was brought to Sri Lanka by Mr. Hullugale long before CBN SAT started even. I reckon it was before year 2000. He started it with the STAR package and was called channel 9.

Channel 9 was a mess from the beginning. Maybe it made Hulla the father of DTH, but it did not do any good to the people. I wonder if any idiots actually used the service.

And CHANNEL 9 was shut down in around 2001 due to legal issues. I'm not surprised.

That is how Hulla ended up selling others' DTH services and shitting Sri Lanka.

But those das are gone. A new world of pay television began with CBNSat. And coming soon are SLT IPTV and possibly many otehr services!

Hulla has not got a chance. Too many people know what he is like.

Are they giving the BUDDIST channel on local tv or is it only on DTH package.

The Buddhist is available only on Dialog TV for the test transmissions.

In about 3 months time, they may launch the channel on another satellite free to air, like other religious channels.

It probably will not be available as a normal television channel (terrestrial analog).

Techno Guy, how are you saying pay television industry began with CBNSat? Are you live in Sri Lanka? Let me correct you, new world of Pay television began with COMET CABLE, and then LBN entered into the pay television industry as a second competitor. Anyway, really I couldn't understand why you guys are so much talking about Dialog TV, here in Canada & the United States main & premier pay television providers are Cable TV operators, like LBN. In Canada & the United States also have DTH service providers (far away from content & quality from Dialog TV), but still majority of the Canadians & Americans using Cable TV services. So what you guys know about DTH? You guys like DTH because of services coming from satellite? You know, you guys must want to be patriotic guys, and support to develop infrastructure in our motherland, because in countries like the United States and Canada heavily rely on Cable network (Do you know, planers of City of Toronto, first planed to connect whole city by cable, that was their main conceren when they were planing Toronto type city)if you guys all the time praying to DTH how cable network operator in Sri Lanka (LBN) expanding their network & services? One thing you guys want to remember, Cable Service mean NOT ONLY TV SERVICE, its have capability of providing super high speed internet, Home Telephone sevices too. So be patriotic and supportive to put Sri Lanka in top of the world

Oh sorry! I thought we were talking about DTH. Which some fool said started with saying Channel 9 was the beginning.

LET ME CORRECT MYSELF:
"But those days are gone. A new world of DTH television began with CBNSat. Possibly many other services too in the future!"

I am very sorry for my mistake. But...

"In Canada & the United States also have DTH service providers (far away from content & quality from Dialog TV)"
> Here in Asia, we do not have the same channels as in USA and Canada. We have a developing television market. USA and Canada have thousands of pay television and normal television channels. Forget about ever seeing it on Dialog TV or even anywhere in SE Asia within the next few years. But possibly in the future.

"if you guys all the time praying to DTH how cable network operator in Sri Lanka (LBN) expanding their network & services?"
>You seem to be loyal to LBN. I am loyal to DTV. We have our different views. But I am fully supportive of all Sri Lankan pay television operators. LBN is doing a very good job without your help. Coemt is a big mess though. I prefer it if more competition comes to the market, so then everyone will be encouraged to develop.

"One thing you guys want to remember, Cable Service mean NOT ONLY TV SERVICE, its have capability of providing super high speed internet, Home Telephone sevices too."
>I remember that. I get telephone and ADSL using cables.

You remember, this world does not belong only to cable television. As much as you love cable networks, you must understand well tha other networks like Microwave and Satellite also help for the development of the country.

Do you think low cost CDMA comes with wires? Do you plug in your mobile to a nearby telephone cable when taking a call? Do you take an emergency coil of cable everywhere you go, just in case?

Cable is not the only part of our future. Wireless communication will go further. You are just looking at today's statistics. See what could happen tomorrow, in the future.

A Wireless World... But I still are not against the use of cables for anything!

Techno guy,

"Here in Asia, we do not have the same channels as in USA and Canada. We have a developing television market. USA and Canada have thousands of pay television and normal television channels. Forget about ever seeing it on Dialog TV or even anywhere in SE Asia within the next few years. But possibly in the future.

I didn't try to compare content in the United States/Canada DTH operators contents & Sri Lankan DTH operate contents, I tried to say Americans & Canadian still prefer to use cable network instead of DTH, even when DTH operators offering more content. So my dear friend, try to understand exact point.

"You seem to be loyal to LBN. I am loyal to DTV. We have our different views. But I am fully supportive of all Sri Lankan pay television operators. LBN is doing a very good job without your help. Coemt is a big mess though. I prefer it if more competition comes to the market, so then everyone will be encouraged to develop"

Ohh come on my dear friend is not about loyalism, I know you guys like DTH, but I am not you kind of a person who just going to promote networks I like, just I show you guys what's the trend in most developed countries. And I want to say why I mentioned LBN in my past comment, cause its the only main cable network operator in Sri Lanka, if there are many cable operators, then I wouldn't mention any specific name, as I did when I am talking about American & Canadian cable networks. Other thing is its indeed a good news LBN or any cable operator doing good without my help. Ohh I forget to tell, my choice is SLT IPTV service, cause it will helps me to watch all the Sinhala channels like Rupavahini, ITN, Swarnavahini, Sirasa TV & Derana TV, from the United States.

"I remember that. I get telephone and ADSL using cables."

I feel really sorry about you my friend, your knowledge in technology not up to date. I am talking about telephone service providing over the cable network, (but don't mess this with SLT service, SLT is different type of service)like LBN network. ADSL internet and cable internet are totally diffent serivice. ADSL providing over the existing phone line & Cable internet providing over the existing cable network. So my dear friend, I have to tell you with sad, still you guys didn't get the chance to see the taste of telephone services over the cable network. SORRY GUYS...

"You remember, this world does not belong only to cable television. As much as you love cable networks, you must understand well tha other networks like Microwave and Satellite also help for the development of the country. Do you think low cost CDMA comes with wires? Do you plug in your mobile to a nearby telephone cable when taking a call? Do you take an emergency coil of cable everywhere you go, just in case?"

Techno, really do you know what are you talking? This world isn't belongs to cable or even DTH, I didn't say this world belongs to cable, what I said to you guys is most develop countries people heavily relying on cable network instead of satellite & microwave links. but still they are using satellite & microwave links assist in emergency situations & to connect remote areas, but when remote areas covered by cable network they don't hesitate to switch to cable network from satellite service.

"Cable is not the only part of our future. Wireless communication will go further. You are just looking at today's statistics. See what could happen tomorrow, in the future. A Wireless World... But I still are not against the use of cables for anything!"

Yes of course, wirless communication will go further, and same time cable techology also go further, that's the reality you like or not or you against for it or not. Also I want to say, I talk not only with present statistics,I talked with furture forcasted statistics too. As I said you before planners like City of Toronto, have and had good forecasting skills than people in Sri Lanka. (They planned how to connect all the houses, busniess in Toronto by cyber optic cable when they start to plan build the city of Toronto. Do you know because of that forecasting skills of those planners, now Toronto have world's most planned, advanced and state of the art cable network?)and same time cable networks keep growing all over the Canada & USA even when Canadians & Americans have choice of you guys favourite technology DTH service.

Hi! I am Rahdus, the oppoiste of "Sudhar". My real name is Arnold Perera.

RE: The GREAT, GRAND CABLE NETWORKS in fucking AMERICA

Yes, come to Sri Lanka and see. You can launch the "Ponna Broadband Network". Good Luck, fucker!

You and your American fools can enjoy fucking cable. But in our motherland, there is only LBN. For those who don't have LBN in their area, then the only alternative is DTH.

So thats why you or some other ponnaya should come and open a better "TRENDY" cable network. Like the Americans.

Maybe you can broadcast videos of the WTC falling. And also documentaries on how you worsened the peoples lives in the middle east.

So if you are a Sri Lankan who likes American trends, then stay in America or do something wihout shouting at the people who know the situation.

Have you ever even visited the DTV blog? I dont think so.

Hey dear Anonymous and radus,
You guys are typical Sri Lankan, who couldn't understand what's the reality is. I know about DTV (previously CBNSat) more than you guys, cause I worked in CBNsat before I leave to USA to pursue my higher education & onthe other hand my brother still working in DTV.Most important thing I want to say I am not an American, I am a proud Sri Lankan, who wish betterment of our motherland Sri Lanka.

Yes you guys can choose DTH service if cable network not available in your area, that's the same thing in here in Canada & USA too. where ever cable network not available they going towards to DTH service, but the most important thing is when cable network make available to those areas, they are switching to cable network from DTH service.

"IF YOU WANT THE SRI LANKAN CABLE TELEVISION MARKET TO DEVELOP"

Yes I will. I mentioned it my previous post too. I am going to subscribe SLT IPTV service when after SLT launched their pay television service.

"So if you are a Sri Lankan who likes American trends, then stay in America"

You guys are really funny guys, watching American movies, dramas, songs over the pay television, suggesting me to stay in America if I like American trends. What a funny suggestion. Two thumbs up guys!!

Well said anony,

There are few guys here who seems ass-lickers of Dialog TV, CBN and their father of what ever they called.

They are talking about TRANSPONDERS, but seems they dont even know abt a simple cable. What a joke.

I saw some earlier threads about Dialog buying this much transponders etc.,

Do you guys really know what a transponder is ?????

Better go and ask your father of DTH about it and ask how and where the transponders are.

He might show you few !

BTW: There are GRAND FATHERS and GRAND GRAND FATHERS of DTH in Sri Lanka. this dumb ass lickers only know the four corners of their TV.
