When I contacted the Engineer at MTV, I was informed that they are transmitting from their tower at Union Place with the same power.

They suggest a NEW antenna for Channel 58 without any boosting!!

I am not sure that I want to spend additional money just for Channel 58!

These engineers always say that their transmission is perfect and we viewers have to change accordingly. That is absolutely crap. Why do we need to buy additional antennas as and when new channels start. This is bull shit. If there are 15 channels we have to have atleast 5 or 6 antennas because either they transmit from different locations or incompatibale for existing antenna.

Agree with you wholeheartedly bank_dude. This is ridiculous! What they do not realise is that there are other options for viewers now.

When I contacted the Engineer at MTV, I was informed that they are transmitting from their tower at depanama with low power and only a test transmission at yet.

That is NOT correct. I phoned MTV and talked to their engineer. He said that they were transmitting from UNION PLACE with FULL power!!

Maybe MTV is not giving out the correct information since the picture quality is very poor.

They also confirmed that Channel 58 needs a shorter Yagi antenna

Why don't Sirasa and MTV come to CBNSat platform ?????

Then the problem is solved !

We can't be spending on antenna whenever a new channel comes and our houses will also look ugly with lot of antennas on the roof. And there is a lightning hazard too if your antenna is more than 15 feet high.

I hope all sri lankan broadcasters will put aside their petty differences and come on to a common DTH platform. Hope Dialog TV (CBNSat) is the best solution.

Dear Admin,

Why don't we invite all the local radio and tv channels to come onto a common platform. I think as subscribers we could ask !

Channel 58 is quite clear(only slight snowing) in Rajagiriya and Kotikawatta area without a need for a new antenna or a change in direction. However, they definitely are using a lower power transmitter because Sirasa and Shakthi are crystal clear in this area.
